My 1958 Ford Thunderbird rear axles have corrosion damage at the area where the seal rides, so causing leaks. Do you have a repair sleeve for these? The measurement of the axle must be taken with which accuracy? Only in inches, or could be in mm?

The Speedi-Sleeve repair kits are sold by measurement. We are unable to look them up by application or axle number. The measurement should be taken with a set of dial calipers and should be accurate to at least 2 decimal places. 00.00". We could convert a measurement in millimeters to find the correct sizing. To determine the appropriate sleeve size, it is first necessary to clean the damaged shaft that needs repair. To determine the appropriate sleeve size, it is first necessary to clean the damaged shaft that needs repair. The diameter of an undamaged section of the seal counterface (sealing surface) should then be measured on at least three different locations. The average of these measurements determines the size of SKF Speedi-Sleeve. If the value lies within the permissible range listed in the product table for the shaft diameter, SKF Speedi-Sleeve will have an adequate tight fit on the shaft and will not require an adhesive. If no suitable size is listed in the product table, it will be necessary to rework the shaft to an appropriate dimension. This also means that a new seal size will be required.
