Leaf Springs 22-1269 Details

Leaf Springs Important Role

Your leaf springs are one of the most important parts of your trucks suspension. If your leaf springs are shot or showing fatigue from old age, it is recommended to change them both out at the same time. If you only change one leaf spring, it is common that your truck will lean toward the side with the older leaf spring. If you purchase one leaf spring and decided to replace the other one at a later date, you may receive a spring from another manufacturer as we source our springs from multiple manufacturers. It is recommend to replace them in pairs to guarantee a match.

Replacing your leaf springs with a high quality OEM leaf spring from Michigan Truck Spring will help improve your ride in the following ways:

  • Less bounce, which means more solid contact with the road and therefore longer tire life.
  • Driver comfort is greatly improved.
  • Your payload sits tight, significantly reducing cargo damage.
  • Smoother ride and less bottoming out.
  • Safety! Your truck will handle better which means it's safer.

All the leaf springs at TruckSpring.com are made to or exceed OEM quality:

  • Made from SAE 5160 Steel, Same as OEM leaf springs.
  • All raw steel is manufactured by steel mills that use the continuous cast (Stran-cast) process, same as OEM leaf springs.
  • Each leaf from the leaf springs is shot peened to specific intensity and coverage.
  • Each leaf spring is coated to prevent corrosion and rust.

If you have any questions about how to identify the correct leaf spring for your vehicle or need bolts or other replacement parts, call us at 1-800-358-4751.

Customer Q&A - Leaf Springs 22-1269

Are there fiction pads for the 5 leaf? All installed but have a rattle when I go over bumps. No luck finding anything online for springs without pad hole.

Asked
All of the anti-friction pads that we use will require a hole at the end of the leaf for installation. There is no other way to ensure a secure attachment.

Will this for a stock 2003 Chevy Silverado 2wheel drive?

Asked
This 22-1269 spring will fit a 1500, 2500, and 3500 Silverado for 2003, both 2wd and 4wd. Depending on which model Silverado you have this spring may be heavier than stock or lighter than the stock capacities. Feel free to call us at 800-358-4751 if you have any additional fitment questions.

so you said the front bushing on this was different than the one on a 1998 k2500 is that the only difference ,could you just change the bushing or the bolt

Asked
The outer diameter of the bushing in this spring and the inner diameter are different. You would need a custom made bushing to make it work. It makes more sense to use a 22-795 spring that will require no modification and has the same leaf count and weight capacity as a 22-1269 spring. If you are set on using this spring you would have to drill your front spring hanger out to accept a 5/8" bolt and then there is still the possibility that the main leaf will be too large to fit due to the larger diameter of the front spring eye to accept the larger bushing.

will these springs fit a 1998 Chevy Cheyenne k2500

Asked
This 22-1269 spring will not fit a 1998 Chevy K2500, the bushing on the front end of the spring is the incorrect size. For a compatible 5 leaf spring with the same 2,025lb rating use a 22-795.

Hi. May i know the weight of 1 set (Rh rear) leaf spring including box and the packaging box dimensions

Asked
One 22-1269 leaf spring weighs 92 lbs. They are 64 inches long, 2-1/2 wide and 6-1/2 inches tall with the arch. They are shipped individually and not in a box at this time. We wrap them. They are too heavy and often are pushed out of boxes.

Hi , will this fit 2017 Sierra 1500 slt crue cab ?

Asked
This 22-1269 spring would fit in your 2017 Sierra 1500 but it would not be recommended. The arch on this spring is too low compared to the OEM installed springs and the ride height of the rear of the truck will decrease. If you are looking for a higher weight capacity spring than the current springs use a 22-1289 spring. The 22-1289 has the correct arch for your application and it can be used as a Heavy duty replacement.

Is it possible to order these springs less the bushings? Kind of an odd request, but they would be replaced with aftermarket bushings .

Asked
Yes, we could remove the bushings from the leaf springs. Please call us to order or place a comment on your online order and we will make sure they are removed before shipping.

I have a 2010 sierra 1500 4wd with the 2/1 leaf springs and my truck sits so low and was wondering would these help my truck?

Asked
The 22-1269 has a 2,025 lbs capacity. Some of the 2010 Sierras had 2/1 springs that were 1,750 lbs. and some were 1,900 lbs. capacity. The 22-1269 has a lower arch than the 2/1 springs that were in the 2010 Sierra, so it will not bring it up much. We recommend going with a 22-1289, which has a 2,235 lbs. capacity and a similar arch as your stock springs. If you can get the OEM numbers off of your springs we can verify what you have in it now, or you can call a dealer with your VIN. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

Will these fit a 2015 gmc sierra 1500?

Asked
The 22-1269 spring may fit but it is not listed as a replacement for this truck. The most common 5 leaf replacement for a 2015 Sierra 1500 is a 22-1289. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

Is this leaf spring for a standard cab?

Asked
The cab type does not effect the leaf spring used. This spring fits many 1500, 1500HD, and 2500 Chevy pickups from 1999 to 2013. Please verify the application guide before ordering of call us for assistance at 1-800-358-4751.

Will I need to replace the u bolts if I put these in my 2011 1500 silverado?

Asked
Yes, it is always recommended to replace your U bolts when installing new leaf springs. We typically use U bolt kit 5-0995K for the 22-1269 leaf springs.

Is the 6 ½ inch C detention with the spring on the truck holding weight or is is when no weight is applied to them?

Asked
The C dimension for the leaf springs is when there is no weight applied to them.

Will these springs increase tow capacity when replacing a 3 leaf set up?

Asked
GM uses a few different 3 leaf springs with different weight ratings, so how much heavier the 5 leaf is will depend on which 3 leaf OEM springs you have. The most common 3 leaf has a weight rating of 1,500 lbs. This 5 leaf replacement spring has a rating of 2,025 lbs. The 5 leaf will help support an extra 525 lbs per side if you have a the 1,500 lbs. springs. No leaf spring will increase your towing capacity due to the other factors that go into determining the towing capacity; brakes, transmission, etc. They will give you extra support and prevent the rear from sagging down compared to a 3 leaf. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any additional questions.

My truck is a 2004 Chev Silverado LS 1500, standard cab, 2WD. Will these springs (5 leaf) fit? If they will, what is the shipping cost to 96789 (Oahu, Hawaii) or do you have a local distributor?

Asked
Yes, these leaf springs will fit a 2004 Silverado 1500. They are the similar to the 3 leaf spring, just heavier with more capacity. They will ride a stiffer than the 3 leaf but will offer more load support. We have put them on 1500's in our shop, typically for work trucks or heavy trailer applications. You can view shipping charges on our website by adding the leaf springs to your shopping cart and clicking on the 'get rates' button. We do not have a distributor in Hawaii.

I'm wanting to replace my stock Springs which is 3 leaf Springs with the 5 leaf. Will this raise my truck it is 01 sliverado 1500 z71 if so will I have to replace shocks.

Asked
The 5 leaf springs were a factory option and they will not increase ride height above stock or above a 3 leaf. The 5 leaf leaf spring pack has less arch than the 3 leaf spring, so the ride height will be very similar. If the current springs are worn the ride height will increase to what it was when the truck was new. New shocks will not be necessary when changing to the 5 leaf spring. If the shocks are worn changing them with the leaf spring would be a good way to save time.

I would like to install these springs on my 08 Silverado 1500 Z71, which I understand will raise the rear about 2-3". Does this increase in height require different rear shocks than stock?

Asked
These are factory replacement leaf springs. The ride height should be identical to when the truck was new. If a lifted spring is added and the lift is higher than 2 inches, extended shocks should be used but with this spring it will not be necessary. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any other questions about replacement leaf springs for your Silverado.

I would like to install these springs on my 08 Silverado 1500 Z71, which I understand will raise the rear about 2-3". Does this increase in height require different rear shocks than stock?

Asked
These are stock Silverado replacement leaf springs. They will not provide lift above your factory height when the vehicle was new.

Is this price for both sides? Or is that one side?

Asked
The price is for one replacement leaf spring. You will need to order a quantity of 2 leaf springs to do both sides.

I want to replace my '06 Silverado's OEM leaves w/ these. What size U-bolts will I need considering these springs should lift my truck 2-3" over stock? Are the U-bolts round, semi-square or square, what is the inside diameter, bolt size, thread length and overall bolt length? Thanks!

Asked
The u-bolts that are commonly used with Silverado and Sierra leaf spring 22-1269 are 9/16 x 2-1/2 x 9-1/2 and they are a square u-bolts. We have them in a kit, part 5-0995K.

Is the leaf pack 32" or 64" ovreally length

Asked
Replacement leaf spring 22-1269 is 32 inches from the center bolt to the center of the spring eye on each end, following the arch of the spring. It is 64" overall.

is this price for a pair or just one side ?

Asked
All truck replacement leaf springs are sold individually. You will need to order and quantity of 2 for a pair. Thank you!

Leaf Springs

At TruckSpring / Michigan Truck Spring, we obtain our leaf springs from various sources throughout the world. All of the manufacturers that we represent produce leaf springs that are as good as or better quality than OEM springs.

Virtually no vehicle manufacturer actually manufactures their own leaf springs. Like many other truck components, leaf springs are purchased from companies specializing in supplying parts to truck manufacturers. The springs we sell have the same or better quality as OEM springs and many times are purchased from the same manufacturer.

Leaf Springs Warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

On all leaf springs.

What the warranty does not cover

Damage from accidents, corrosion, improper installation, incorrect applications, overloading, and custom applications that are not specified under the OEM cross references. This warranty does not cover loss of freight, loss of profit, equipment, or personal downtime. Any alteration of products will void the warranty. Warranty is void if new u-bolts are not installed when the new leaf spring is installed. Using existing u-bolts is a common cause for leaf spring breakage and failure.
