Leaf Springs 22-1269HD Details

Leaf Springs Important Role

Your leaf springs are one of the most important parts of your trucks suspension. If your leaf springs are shot or showing fatigue from old age, it is recommended to change them both out at the same time. If you only change one leaf spring, it is common that your truck will lean toward the side with the older leaf spring. If you purchase one leaf spring and decided to replace the other one at a later date, you may receive a spring from another manufacturer as we source our springs from multiple manufacturers. It is recommend to replace them in pairs to guarantee a match.

Replacing your leaf springs with a high quality OEM leaf spring from Michigan Truck Spring will help improve your ride in the following ways:

  • Less bounce, which means more solid contact with the road and therefore longer tire life.
  • Driver comfort is greatly improved.
  • Your payload sits tight, significantly reducing cargo damage.
  • Smoother ride and less bottoming out.
  • Safety! Your truck will handle better which means it's safer.

All the leaf springs at TruckSpring.com are made to or exceed OEM quality:

  • Made from SAE 5160 Steel, Same as OEM leaf springs.
  • All raw steel is manufactured by steel mills that use the continuous cast (Stran-cast) process, same as OEM leaf springs.
  • Each leaf from the leaf springs is shot peened to specific intensity and coverage.
  • Each leaf spring is coated to prevent corrosion and rust.

If you have any questions about how to identify the correct leaf spring for your vehicle or need bolts or other replacement parts, call us at 1-800-358-4751.

Customer Q&A - Leaf Springs 22-1269HD

I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 4x4 extended cab. Will these fit?

Asked
These leaf springs will fit a 2001 Silverado 1500. They are very heavy, with more than double the weight capacity that came on the truck from the factory (1,500 lbs to 3,300 lbs each). It will ride like a tank if it's not loaded heavy. Leaf spring 22-1269 is the normal jump to a heavier leaf spring that we recommend on the 1500 trucks. Only 525 lbs heavier each at 2,025lbs.

We have a 2001 2500 silverado hd with 4 plus1 spring pack. The truck is an extended cab, with air bags fitted, when we have our 34 foot keystone cougar coupled ,the ride is very harsh at times we are only doing 40klms hour, when the air bags are deflated the truck sits 1inch off the overload spring, what would you recomend to fix this problem. We live in Australia, so we need to work how to get the springs out here at a reasonable cost. EBAY AND GLOBAL SHIPPING is dairly good.Regards John Cole

Asked
We currently do not ship leaf springs overseas due to the size and weight. If you have a freight forwarding company you work with in the US we can ship to that address. Feel free to email us at truckspring@truckspring.com with any questions regarding shipping.

I have a 2017 2500hd midnight edition will these springs fit and how much lift

Asked
These springs will only work up to 2013 so they will not fit a 2017 model Chevy 2500 HD. For a 2017 2500 HD, a 22-1649 will be the stock 5 leaf replacement and a 22-1649HD will be a heavy-duty 5 leaf alternative.

How thick is the leaf spring? Wondering how big of a U-Bolt i will need

Asked
The full pack thickness on these spring is 3-13/16". If you measure your current spring pack thickness and subtract it from 3-13/16" this will be the additional length required on your u-bolts. If you have any questions on this please give us a call.

So I have 02 Chevy silverado 2500 hd looking for somthing better than stock plan tow camper and car trailer quite often is it stock height or is it gonna sit taller ??

Asked
These 22-1269HD springs have a lower arch than stock to help offset the extra pack thickness of the heavy-duty spring. These will sit around 1" higher than stock. If moving from older springs that have wear the difference may be more than an inch from the old springs to these.

Will these fit a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 3 leaf? I need heavy springs for carrying alot of weight.

Asked
Yes, the 22-1269HD spring will fit on a 2011 Silverado 1500. With the following information: 22-1487 - Three leaf spring, arch - 7-9/16", 1,750 lbs. carrying capacity 22-1269HD - Eight leaf spring, arch - 5-3/4", 3,300 lbs. carrying capacity The increased capacity will create a stiffer ride on a 1500 pickup, but it can be done.

Will these make my truck ride hard. What is the price for shipping to nj

Asked
The HD leaf springs will be a stiffer ride and are typically used on work trucks or trucks that are loaded more times than not. You can view the shipping charges by adding the springs to your shopping cart and clicking on the 'get rates' button. The charges vary with postal code. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 and we can answer specific questions about your application.

I have a stock 1500HD (Wich has the same springs as a 2500). I was curious how much it will lift the back end of the truck compared to stock?

Asked
Moving from the 22-1269 5 leaf spring to the 22-1269HD 8 leaf spring you can expect around a 1" increase in ride height. The HD springs have a decreased arch to accommodate the extra pack thickness of the HD spring but the HD springs will deflect less under the normal weight of the truck.

I have a 2005 Silverado 2500HD with Ride Rite air bags and want to get closer to the GCWR without sagging. Will these help with increasing hitch pin weigh (without going over factory specs)?

Asked
The 22-1269HD is rated at 3,300 lbs per spring compared to the 22-1269 which is rated at 2,025 lbs. The heavier spring will help prevent sagging while in your GCWR. It is a much heavier spring so you will notice a stiffer ride while not loaded, but you will not sag as much due to the extra support from the higher capacity leaf spring.

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. I will be towing a 25 foot camper. My stock leafs are broken, and need to replace them anyway. I am looking to upgrade to a heavier spring for towing. Will these be a good fit. I know they will make the ride rougher, but I only drive it un loaded for 11 miles one way to work, and usually am hauling something. Thanks.

Asked
The Sierra 1500 trucks were normally equipped with a 3 leaf spring rated at 1,750 to 1,900 lbs. The next progressive step is the 5 Leaf 22-1269 spring at 2,025 lbs and after that is the 6 leaf 22-1289 at 2,235 lbs. The 22-1269HD is a 8 leaf and 3,300 LBS and its typically not recommended unless the truck is always loaded or always towing. The ride will be stiff and rough when unloaded when using the HD designated spring. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 HD with quadrasteer. I plan on taking on a load near the max that this truck is rated for I believe 9,600 pounds. I'm trying to find some things I can upgrade to make it a little easier. Would these be good to use fot that?

Asked
We would recommend the Timbren suspension enhancement for your application. It will not present any problems with the Quadrasteer system. Installation is fairly simple and takes around 45 minutes. Part GMRCK25S 6,000 LBS Rating Part GMRTT35S 8,000 LBS Rating Feel free to call me at 1-800-358-4751 if any questions.

I am building a service truck. The truck is a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD. The service body is a 9 foot steel full service box. Are these springs going to be heavy enough once I get this thing loaded up with tools or should I look at something heavier?

Asked
The 22-1269HD's should be heavy enough for your application. Anything heavier would be very stiff. We recommend using these leaf springs and trying them out. If you need more support we would add a Timbren Suspension kit to work with the 22-1269HD leaf springs. You will get more support with adding the Timbren kit, but won't be as stiff as using a heavier leaf springs.

I have a 2007.5 duramax 2500hd with 5 leaf rear springs. Will these 8 leaf fit. I want it to haul a load like my 2011 2500 hd work truck it has 8 leafs.

Asked
Replacement leaf spring 22-1269HD will fit you 2007 Chevrolet Duramax 2500HD. This leaf spring is a direct OEM replacement. Going from a 5 leaf spring to an 8 leaf spring will add more capacity but will also result in a little stiffer ride.

Will this work with my truck? Will it help with load capacity?

Asked
It depends on the year, make, model of truck that you have. They are 1999-2010 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy duty leaf springs. You can contact us at 1-800-358-4751 and we can verify if they will fit your truck.

Leaf Springs

At TruckSpring / Michigan Truck Spring, we obtain our leaf springs from various sources throughout the world. All of the manufacturers that we represent produce leaf springs that are as good as or better quality than OEM springs.

Virtually no vehicle manufacturer actually manufactures their own leaf springs. Like many other truck components, leaf springs are purchased from companies specializing in supplying parts to truck manufacturers. The springs we sell have the same or better quality as OEM springs and many times are purchased from the same manufacturer.

Leaf Springs Warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

On all leaf springs.

What the warranty does not cover

Damage from accidents, corrosion, improper installation, incorrect applications, overloading, and custom applications that are not specified under the OEM cross references. This warranty does not cover loss of freight, loss of profit, equipment, or personal downtime. Any alteration of products will void the warranty. Warranty is void if new u-bolts are not installed when the new leaf spring is installed. Using existing u-bolts is a common cause for leaf spring breakage and failure.
