Leaf Springs 22-1289 Details

Leaf Springs Important Role

Your leaf springs are one of the most important parts of your trucks suspension. If your leaf springs are shot or showing fatigue from old age, it is recommended to change them both out at the same time. If you only change one leaf spring, it is common that your truck will lean toward the side with the older leaf spring. If you purchase one leaf spring and decided to replace the other one at a later date, you may receive a spring from another manufacturer as we source our springs from multiple manufacturers. It is recommend to replace them in pairs to guarantee a match.

Replacing your leaf springs with a high quality OEM leaf spring from Michigan Truck Spring will help improve your ride in the following ways:

  • Less bounce, which means more solid contact with the road and therefore longer tire life.
  • Driver comfort is greatly improved.
  • Your payload sits tight, significantly reducing cargo damage.
  • Smoother ride and less bottoming out.
  • Safety! Your truck will handle better which means it's safer.

All the leaf springs at TruckSpring.com are made to or exceed OEM quality:

  • Made from SAE 5160 Steel, Same as OEM leaf springs.
  • All raw steel is manufactured by steel mills that use the continuous cast (Stran-cast) process, same as OEM leaf springs.
  • Each leaf from the leaf springs is shot peened to specific intensity and coverage.
  • Each leaf spring is coated to prevent corrosion and rust.

If you have any questions about how to identify the correct leaf spring for your vehicle or need bolts or other replacement parts, call us at 1-800-358-4751.

Customer Q&A - Leaf Springs 22-1289

I have a 05 chevy 1500hd with the 5 leaf pack. I want to upgrade to the 6 leaf pack. What additional hardware am I going to need in order to install them

Asked
Going from the 5 leaf 22-1269 to the 6 leaf 22-1289 is fairly simple and it will only require new u-bolts. The hardware used for the spring eyes is the same size and if the attaching bolts are in good shape they can be re-used. U-bolts should always be replaced and it may require the use of a longer set due to the increase in pack thickness. If you take measurements of your current u-bolts and call us with this information when you order we can bend up a longer set work with the new springs.

Hey im wondering if that price for the gm leaf springs is for the complete spring package or each leaf individually meaning it would be 800$ for the package?

Asked
The 22-1289 leaf springs are a complete spring assembly. One spring will do one side of your truck. A quantity of 2 springs will be needed to do both sides. Feel free to call us at 800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

Hi- are these leafs for a dually or single rear wheel? i have a silverado 3500 crewcab dually. Its a 6 leaf pack (5/1) with 2 overloads. Thanks.

Asked
These may have been used on both the single rear wheel and the dual rear wheel models of the 3500 depending on the year. Please give us a call with the model and we will be glad to help you find the correct replacement leaf springs.

I have a 2003 1500hd I believe they come stock with 5 spring system. I was wondering besides the load compasity what would be the biggest difference upgrading to 6 leaf springs?

Asked
The 22-1289 leaf spring will have one extra leaf as well as a higher arch over the 22-1269 spring. With the increased pack thickness and arch, you may see an increase in ride height over 1" when switching to the 22-1289.

Is that price for a pair? Or 197.50 each?

Asked
The price is for a single spring. You will need to order a quantity of 2 for a pair. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Will I have to buy new U-bolts for my 2004 GMC Sierra z71 with the factory blocks? And will it lift the truck any above factory height

Asked
If your 2004 GMC is a 1500 model the stock springs on your truck should part 22-1221, a 3 leaf spring. Moving to this 6 leaf 22-1289 will result in around a 2" ride height increase due to the extra pack thickness and additional arch that is in this spring. Additionally the higher weight capacity will allow you to carry more weight with less sag but it will also cause the ride to be rougher when unloaded. New u-bolts are always recommended when changing springs. Re-using them can be dangerous as they can break. With the extra pack thickness of the new springs a longer u-bolt will be necessary. Feel free to call me at 800-358-4751 if you have any additional questions.

I have the 3 leafs in my 06 1500 sierra now, will these 6 leafs keep my ride height the same?

Asked
The 22-1289 spring is a high arch spring with a higher capacity. With the extra pack thickness and the extra weight capacity this spring will sit much higher than the stock 22-1221, 3 Leaf spring. The 22-1269 spring is a more common upgrade with a higher capacity and a lower arch which should not have such a drastic effect on the ride height. Upgrading to anything other than the stock replacement will result in a higher ride height.

Will this leaf spring kit rise the back end of my truck? If yes how much

Asked
Leaf Spring 22-1289 may or may not lift your vehicle. If your truck has a 4 leaf spring then a 6 leaf spring will lift the truck some. If you have a 6 leaf spring that is worn out then this leaf spring will bring the truck back to stock height. It depends on what leaf springs you currently have and their condition. Please feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 and we can answer any questions you may have.

Leaf Springs

At TruckSpring / Michigan Truck Spring, we obtain our leaf springs from various sources throughout the world. All of the manufacturers that we represent produce leaf springs that are as good as or better quality than OEM springs.

Virtually no vehicle manufacturer actually manufactures their own leaf springs. Like many other truck components, leaf springs are purchased from companies specializing in supplying parts to truck manufacturers. The springs we sell have the same or better quality as OEM springs and many times are purchased from the same manufacturer.

Leaf Springs Warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

On all leaf springs.

What the warranty does not cover

Damage from accidents, corrosion, improper installation, incorrect applications, overloading, and custom applications that are not specified under the OEM cross references. This warranty does not cover loss of freight, loss of profit, equipment, or personal downtime. Any alteration of products will void the warranty. Warranty is void if new u-bolts are not installed when the new leaf spring is installed. Using existing u-bolts is a common cause for leaf spring breakage and failure.
