Leaf Springs 43-1263HD Details

Leaf Springs Important Role

Your leaf springs are one of the most important parts of your trucks suspension. If your leaf springs are shot or showing fatigue from old age, it is recommended to change them both out at the same time. If you only change one leaf spring, it is common that your truck will lean toward the side with the older leaf spring. If you purchase one leaf spring and decided to replace the other one at a later date, you may receive a spring from another manufacturer as we source our springs from multiple manufacturers. It is recommend to replace them in pairs to guarantee a match.

Replacing your leaf springs with a high quality OEM leaf spring from Michigan Truck Spring will help improve your ride in the following ways:

  • Less bounce, which means more solid contact with the road and therefore longer tire life.
  • Driver comfort is greatly improved.
  • Your payload sits tight, significantly reducing cargo damage.
  • Smoother ride and less bottoming out.
  • Safety! Your truck will handle better which means it's safer.

All the leaf springs at TruckSpring.com are made to or exceed OEM quality:

  • Made from SAE 5160 Steel, Same as OEM leaf springs.
  • All raw steel is manufactured by steel mills that use the continuous cast (Stran-cast) process, same as OEM leaf springs.
  • Each leaf from the leaf springs is shot peened to specific intensity and coverage.
  • Each leaf spring is coated to prevent corrosion and rust.

If you have any questions about how to identify the correct leaf spring for your vehicle or need bolts or other replacement parts, call us at 1-800-358-4751.

Customer Q&A - Leaf Springs 43-1263HD

I have a 1999 F250 SD with a utility bed, the factory springs seem to be giving out and I am thinking of going with a better spring but am unsure if I want the 6 or the 7 leaf , will the 7 leaf make my ride overly harsh vs. the 6 leaf?

Asked
The 7 leaf is typically used for service body trucks or heavier loads. It has a 4,400 lbs capacity and will stiffen up the ride some when unloaded. How much it will stiffen the ride will depend on the weight of your utility bed. It is common for our customers to use the 7 leaf on work trucks and trucks that are constantly hauling heavy loads. Feel free to contact us at 1-800-358-4751 and we can help determine the correct leaf spring for your F-250.

I have an existng F-150 with a 3/1 rear leaf 58-inch and 1/4". Would the 6/1 leaf (3-inches in width F-250 be compatible with the F-150?

Asked
The front / rear measurements of many of the F-150 and F-250 leaf springs are different, which would cause problems and is not recommended. It is not always the case and sometimes they can be used, but we would need to know the year of your F-150 to verify which springs could be used that have a greater weight rating. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 and we will see what the best options are for your F-150.

I have a 2002 f250 with the factory contact overloads. will your u bolts be long enough to keep my overloads?

Asked
Our leaf springs do not come with U-bolts, they are ordered separately. We recommend measuring the length of you existing u-bolts to verify before placing an order. Feel free to contact us at 1-800-358-4751 and we can assist you in getting the correct size u bolts for your 2002 F-250 with factory contact overloads.

I have a 1991 Ford F150 Lariat with original leaf springs still on it. I want to put something much much strong on this truck so it can haul more weight without sagging down the bed. Will these work? If not can you direct me to heavy duty ones that will fit my truck and hold much more weight than original leaf springs? BTW: I put heavy duty new Monroe shocks on already. Helped just a little but I need much better support to hold 1.5 ton or more. Thanks

Asked
These Ford leaf springs are for are for 1999 -2007 F-250 and F-350 SuperDuty pickups. They will not fit on a Ford F-150. The heaviest leaf springs we carry for a 1991 F-150 will be part 43-701HD. Carrying 1.5 tons of cargo may exceed the GVWR of the vehicle and is not recommended. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751.

I have a 2000 f250 with a 5 leaf spring. I was wanting to upgrade to the 7 leaf. Will the 7 leaf change the height of my truck, and would I need to purchase anything else to mount them

Asked
The 7 Leaf HD spring 43-1263HD will raise the rear of the truck compared to the 5 leaf spring. The spring pack on the 7 leaf is around 1" thicker than the stock 5 leaf spring. Depending on the condition of the current springs the height difference may vary on how much it will lift it. If they were both new, it would be 1 inch. We always recommend replacing the u-bolts when installing new leaf springs. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any additional questions.

I have a 4 leaf spring on my 99 f350, will the 7 leaf spring affect the height of the vehicle and if so by how much? and will it also fit since it also has the factory contact overolad spring?

Asked
The 1999 F-350 should have come with a 4/1 Spring 4 leaves with an overload bottom leaf. This spring will work in its place as an aftermarket heavy duty replacement. The ride height will increase by the addition in pack thickness and the natural weight of the truck will have less of an effect on the truck. It should not effect the ability to use the top mounted overload spring. To confirm fit please locate the spring code on the door of the truck and call us at 1-800-358-4751 for assistance.

I have a 2003 F250 with the 5 leaf rear... can i upgrade to the 7 leaf rear?

Asked
Yes, the 5 leaf option has 3,000 LB capacity and the next step is a 3,600 LB - 6 Leaf 43-1261HD and then a 4,400 LB - 7 Leaf 43-1263HD. These springs both match the factory dimension and should bolt right in. The only difference will be the pack thickness due to the extra steel.

Leaf Springs

At TruckSpring / Michigan Truck Spring, we obtain our leaf springs from various sources throughout the world. All of the manufacturers that we represent produce leaf springs that are as good as or better quality than OEM springs.

Virtually no vehicle manufacturer actually manufactures their own leaf springs. Like many other truck components, leaf springs are purchased from companies specializing in supplying parts to truck manufacturers. The springs we sell have the same or better quality as OEM springs and many times are purchased from the same manufacturer.

Leaf Springs Warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

On all leaf springs.

What the warranty does not cover

Damage from accidents, corrosion, improper installation, incorrect applications, overloading, and custom applications that are not specified under the OEM cross references. This warranty does not cover loss of freight, loss of profit, equipment, or personal downtime. Any alteration of products will void the warranty. Warranty is void if new u-bolts are not installed when the new leaf spring is installed. Using existing u-bolts is a common cause for leaf spring breakage and failure.
