Leaf Springs 43-818HD Details

Leaf Springs Important Role

Your leaf springs are one of the most important parts of your trucks suspension. If your leaf springs are shot or showing fatigue from old age, it is recommended to change them both out at the same time. If you only change one leaf spring, it is common that your truck will lean toward the side with the older leaf spring. If you purchase one leaf spring and decided to replace the other one at a later date, you may receive a spring from another manufacturer as we source our springs from multiple manufacturers. It is recommend to replace them in pairs to guarantee a match.

Replacing your leaf springs with a high quality OEM leaf spring from Michigan Truck Spring will help improve your ride in the following ways:

  • Less bounce, which means more solid contact with the road and therefore longer tire life.
  • Driver comfort is greatly improved.
  • Your payload sits tight, significantly reducing cargo damage.
  • Smoother ride and less bottoming out.
  • Safety! Your truck will handle better which means it's safer.

All the leaf springs at TruckSpring.com are made to or exceed OEM quality:

  • Made from SAE 5160 Steel, Same as OEM leaf springs.
  • All raw steel is manufactured by steel mills that use the continuous cast (Stran-cast) process, same as OEM leaf springs.
  • Each leaf from the leaf springs is shot peened to specific intensity and coverage.
  • Each leaf spring is coated to prevent corrosion and rust.

If you have any questions about how to identify the correct leaf spring for your vehicle or need bolts or other replacement parts, call us at 1-800-358-4751.

Customer Q&A - Leaf Springs 43-818HD

Which U-Bolts would go with these leaf springs for replacing the factory U-Bolts?

Asked
We custom bend the U-bolts for these springs. Typically we use 9/16" X 22" Rod and we bend 3" square or 3" semi-round. These end up around 9.25" long. We will need to know which bend your current U-bolts are and the length to supply the correct ones. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any questions.

Will this change the ride from stock? I do not want a lifted front. But the same as stock.

Asked
It depends on what springs your F-250 or F-350 came from the factory with. This spring is heavier than OEM factory springs. It is a 3 leaf where most came from the factory with a 2 leaf. This Ford front leaf spring has a pack thickness of 1-15/16 inches where most from the factory were 1-5/16. It will ride a little higher due to the extra leaf. The 43-818 will be closer to the stock replacement. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 with the spring code located on the sticker of your drivers side door and we can identify what you have and the direct replacement.

I own a 1999 F350 4X4 diesel, will the above spring provide any lift compared to the stock spring? Thanks.

Asked
These Ford leaf springs will be 5/8" higher due to the pack thickness being larger. They will also deflect less under the weight of the truck so they will be slightly taller than the stock springs when it was new.

Will the triple leaf spring (HD) set the truck higher than the dual leafs? If so, will I have to replace the stock u-bolts? My front-end is sagging to the driver front; believe it to be due to the use of heavy snow plow. HD springs sound like they would benefit me.

Asked
These Ford leaf springs will be slightly higher than stock. The arch is the same but the pack thickness is 5/8" thicker. With the higher weight capacity these springs will deflect less under the weight of the truck so this will also increase the ride height slightly. They will use stock u-bolts. For safety reasons, you should never reuse your u-bolts when installing new leaf springs.

I have a 2003 f250 with 2 leaf front end, will this 3 leaf spring pack fit for an upgrade? Thanks

Asked
43-818HD is a 3 leaf spring that will fit in place of the 2 leaf original. It is a heavy duty spring replacement.

Leaf Springs

At TruckSpring / Michigan Truck Spring, we obtain our leaf springs from various sources throughout the world. All of the manufacturers that we represent produce leaf springs that are as good as or better quality than OEM springs.

Virtually no vehicle manufacturer actually manufactures their own leaf springs. Like many other truck components, leaf springs are purchased from companies specializing in supplying parts to truck manufacturers. The springs we sell have the same or better quality as OEM springs and many times are purchased from the same manufacturer.

Leaf Springs Warranty

1 Year Limited Warranty

On all leaf springs.

What the warranty does not cover

Damage from accidents, corrosion, improper installation, incorrect applications, overloading, and custom applications that are not specified under the OEM cross references. This warranty does not cover loss of freight, loss of profit, equipment, or personal downtime. Any alteration of products will void the warranty. Warranty is void if new u-bolts are not installed when the new leaf spring is installed. Using existing u-bolts is a common cause for leaf spring breakage and failure.
