Firestone Sport-Rite Air Helper Springs

Firestone air helper springs can be installed on most light trucks, SUVs and vans. Installed between the frame of the vehicle and the suspension, these helper springs provide load support through the use of air pressure. Each application is specifically designed to maximize the safe load carrying capacity, stability, and ride quality of the vehicle.

Maximize your vehicle's suspension with Firestone air helper springs. Sport-Rite™ springs utilize a tapered style air spring that will support up to 3000 lbs per set. (Note: Do not exceed the vehicles recommended gross vehicle weight rating GVWR). With dynamic ride characteristics, hauling and towing control are vastly improved. Make your vehicle a total performer with Firestone air springs.

Basic Kit includes everything for a quick installation:

  • 2 Air springs
  • Brackets
  • Hardware
  • Air line
  • Separate inflation valves for manual inflation
  • Installs in approximately 1-2 hours

Customer Q&A - Firestone W217602320

Will this kit fit an 05 GMC Sierra 2wd.....

Asked
Firestone 2320 will fit the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 (2WD, 4WD) (not HD models).

Will they work with my 2" drop shakels?

Asked
Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2320 is designed for stock height trucks and will not work with 2" drop shackles.

Just want to replace air bag only Not sure how to proceed

Asked
Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2320 uses replacement air spring part 9000. If you do a search on our website for part FIR9000 you will see the replacement air bag.

I have a 2006 silverado 1500 z71 edition and instead of stock 2in blocks I have 3in blocks. I also am running a 285 tire, will these interfere with this kit?

Asked
This kit will require 6" of space between the tire and the frame for airbag clearance. If you are running a larger tire than stock, check this measurement before ordering. Since this kit mounts on top of the leaf spring adding a lifted block will not change the distance between the airbag brackets and you can still use the kit.

I have a 2000 ford f150 4x4 and it currently has air bag assist on the truck. However, one air bag has an air leak. I'm typically pulling 10,000-15,000 pounds with the truck. Which air bag could I use as a replacement without have to install an entire air system?

Asked
If you have a Firestone Sport-Rite kit on your F-150, you can replace just the leaking air bag. The replacement air bag is part number FIR9000. You will want to confirm your F-150 has Firestone air bags on it before ordering. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you have any additional questions.

Step five says Check the "X" dimension on both sides of the air spring, these dimensions should be the same (refer to Figure "B"). Before drilling the holes make sure all electrical, brake and fuel lines are cleared from the path of the drill. How can the X dimensions on both sides of the air spring be the same? the leaf spring is curved? Doesn't this mean that one dimension will have to be sorter then the other? The leaf spring is not a flat surface?

Asked
The upper bracket should remain parallel to the lower bracket with a spacing of 7.25" to 9". This may require the upper bracket to be set an an angle to allow for the brackets to stay parallel. The air bags have a small tolerance for angular difference but it may shorten the lifespan if the difference is too extreme.

I have a 2005 Silverado with lowered configuration. Can I purchase the Firestone 2320 kit with 9001 air bags instead of the 9000 that come standard with the kit? The 9001's have a lower ride height by a couple of inches.

Asked
Firestone does not offer the 2320 with 9001 air bags instead of the 9000. We could swap out the bags, but there would be no warranty on the kit due to the modification, custom kit. Feel free to call us at 1-800-358-4751 if you are interested.

recently purchased a 16" F150 and had a 05 gmc with the 2430 series bags which were amazing , are the sport rite ok when towing 10,000+ range trailers when properly hooked up . I'm looking for a smother ride this time around and only tow heavier trailers a few times a yr

Asked
Firestone suspension kit 2320 will not fit a 2016 Ford F-150. Firestone kit 2582 fits the 2016 Ford F-150. They do not make a Sport-Rite kit that will work on the 2016. You can run the air bags at minimum psi so you do not impact the ride when you are not loaded.

Is there a danger of the bags tearing if the truck is put on a garage lift and lifted by the chassis?

Asked
Firestone advises "If it is necessary to lift the vehicle by the frame, first release the air pressure from the air springs. This will allow the air springs to extend to their maximum length without being damaged. The uninflated air springs are capable of supporting the weight of the axle when the vehicle is lifted by the frame. After servicing of the vehicle is complete, lower the vehicle to the ground and reinflate the air helper springs to the desired pressure. On Sport-Rite kits the air helper springs must be aired up to 50 psi and then release the air until the air helper springs are to the desired pressure" We have found that if the work involves manipulating that axle (brakes, shocks, or wheel and tire work) that would cause the weight to be added or removed on the axle ends that the axle should be supported. Anything that would require the axle to move around while hanging by the bags could put additional stress on them.

My 1999 F-150 Has a steel arm bolted under the spring on the axle that hits the rubber bumper on the frame when bottomed out. Is that arm in the way of mounting these air springs?

Asked
Normally there was a jounce tongue as part of the block on the F-250 and F-350 models. We have not seen it on a F-150. These kits install on top of the spring and behind where the jounce bumper is located so it should not interfere. Feel free to email us a picture to truckspring@truckspring.com and we can check it out to verify we are on the same page.

will this fit 2013 f150 4x4

Asked
Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2320 will not fit a 2013 Ford F-150. You will need Firestone Ride-Rite kit 2525 for a 2013 F-150 4x4.

Will this bag work if truck has a 6" lift?

Asked
Firestone Sport-Rite air bag kit 2320 cannot be used with a 6 inch lift. Firestone does make air bag spacer kits that work with a 6 inch lift, but the spacers can only be used with Firestone Ride-Rite kits and will not work with Firestone Sport Rite or Firestone Coil-Rite air bag kits.

Does this product have an internal bumper to keep the bag from tearing if bottomed out with no air pressure applied.

Asked
Firestone air spring kit 2320 does not have an internal bumper to prevent the air spring from bottoming out when ran without air pressure. Firestone air spring kit 2320 requires a minimum of 10 lbs. of air pressure at all times to prevent the air springs from damage.

I was wondering if this product would fit a truck with roughly a 4/6 drop?

Asked
Firestone air spring kit 2320 will not fit with a 4 - 6 inch drop. Firestone air spring kit 2320 is designed for stock height vehicles.
