Trailer Breakaway Systems are designed for use on 1, 2, 3 and 4 axle trailers equipped with electric brakes. If the trailer separates from the tow vehicle while in motion, breakaway systems apply the trailers electric brakes automatically. Trailer Breakaway systems are required in many States and Provinces; these trailer breakaway systems meet or exceed Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications regarding trailer breakaway and holding requirements.
